Need some help!!Urgent(Treatment for anemia+diabetes) patient…?
My grandma has diabetes about 20years something, so she need to take a lot of medicine to control the disease. Last month, she went to see the doctor, then the doctor told her, because she took a lot of medicine for a long period, so she got kidney problem…
But today, the doctor told my grandma, she got anemia…But my grandma cannot take a lot of medicine anymore, so suggest me few "natural" treatments that can increase her red blood cell???
I need suitable foods or drinks with no sugar (Just like i said, my grandma has diabetes)& NO medicine..
Thanks…
Maybe she can has some pill that gain more red blood as long as it does not hurt her kidney…
She can eat green leafy veggies, berries, chicken, things like that.
Without knowing the kidney problem, it’s hard to suggest much.
Spinach has a lot of iron in it.
She can drink English Breakfast Tea (has no caffeine in it), crystal light, caffeine free diet soft drinks, milk.
Liver has a lot of iron in it, but may exacerbate kidney problems due to the protein.
I have diabetes and no meds either. I just carefully watch what I eat, and when I eat bad things, it’s in small controlled portions so I don’t spike too much.
She can even eat a little sugar free chocolate in moderation.
Can she take iron pills?
5 ounces of dry red wine can help a lot too!

For the anemia the best foods are spinach and tomato salads with beef or lamb. Since she is also diabetic this works well. It is what I eat a lot. She should not have the lovely banana as it is too full of sugar.
I follow the South Beach Living phase 2 diet plan. It is sufficient protein and fat and very low carbohydrate.
I am not sure Grandma can eat the above diet if she is going into Kidney Failure as those will only irritate her problem.
You need for the doctor to refer you and grandma to dietician for help here.
