people with iron deficiency anemia, how long do they usually live to?

July 20th, 2010 by admin

I have iron deficiency anemia and i was looking for some research on how long people with iron deficiency would live, im just really curious.

Iron deficiency anemia isnt usually a factor in mortality. anemia can be easily controlled with diet and iron supplements. i too have anemia…at times pretty low iron (I’ve had to have iron i.v. infusions)

I don’t really think that anemia affects life expectancy enough to be significant. I think it’s extremely common. It just means you need to take vitamins and probably wont be able to donate blood. But vitamins usually get you back to a normal iron level.

iron deficiency anemia is not a fatal illness but the underlying cause of the iron deficiency anemia could be. If the cause is just diet, eat better and go on. If the cause is another disease seek treatment and correct it as best as you can.
